What a weekend!
Blazing hot weather - 25 degrees plus, and a rehearsal for the Aberfeldy bike, (plus an additional leg from Aberfeldy back to Kenmore).
100.2 km at an average moving speed of 23.4km/hr. Could have been quicker as the back half of the loch leg, and quite a bit after that was holding back to keep Mike in view.
Realistic target for race day: 25-27.5km/hr
Then a short swim with the seals in Newburgh, just 800m, but first open water of the year.

Gym session
2km on the treadmill warming up
5km on the treadmill trying and failing to do intervals
Then 1,500m in the pool. None of it fast or good.

Gym brick
40 minutes on the spin bike - 18.8km, 20 minutes on the treadmill at 12.0km/hr, improving to 12.5km/hr by the end - total distance 4.12km

Swim training
1.5 km over the hour with the three peakers. Felt very unfishy today - don't know why...

Whitehills
Very slow, starting with the uphill, and some waiting for horses - 7.4km at 6'08". 5'52" moving pace
Thursday, 17 May 2012
Back in the gym after a long time
2 km warm up on the treadmill at 12km/hr, then 1 hour in the pool, covering 108 lengths, or 2.7 km. Definitely slowing towards the end, but giving some swim mileage bad to the cosmos

Isle of Wight Randonnee
A cold and initially wet day, and the clockwise route. So drizzly from around Porchfield to probably Bembridge, by which time it had stopped raining and was just cloudy.
Total expired time: 5hr45, clock time 5hr3 (due to stoppages for two punctures, and a third along the railway path which I didn't repair), and rolling time 4hr50'40" for an average moving speed of 22.1km/hr.
I went a little adrift south of Ryde, so my total distance was 107.1 km.
Lots of outages from the HR monitor, so the official average HR was 130, but I'm guessing that 140 was probably closer.
Long day in the saddle.
